The Cloud by Day, Fire by Night: The Holy Spirit Shekinah Glory Has Moved Again!

For those who are being led by the Holy Spirit, the Cloud by day, and the Fire by night — the Shekinah Glory of Yahuweh — is on the move again!

Let’s review what this means.

The Israelites had just been freed from slavery in Egypt. They were then led into the wilderness, and were required to move often. In order for them to go into the Promised Land of their inheritance, they were instructed to follow the Cloud by day, and the Fire by night, also called the Shekinah Glory of Yahuweh — the Glory of Yahuweh’s presence dwelling in the midst of His people.

The journey would entail many encampments. As soon as the people arrived at a new location, they would set up camp, and remain there. As long as the Cloud remained there, the people would remain. But when the Cloud began to move to a new location, the people were required to move also. They were required to break camp, pack up, and move on, or face being left behind.

Why is this bit of history important? It is because the Israelites in the wilderness are our example today! The Congregation in the wilderness is prophetic of the Congregation of Believers today, and they are examples for us today, in every way (1Corinthians 10:11). The Holy Spirit is desiring to prepare us, to make us ready, to enter the Promised Land of our inheritance.

Thus we learn from the Israelites, that when the Holy Spirit begins to move in a new direction, we too must prepare to move–or we too will face being left behind.

As we continue our journey toward the Promised Land, we are learning to be led by the Holy Spirit. We are learning that if we desire to be led by the Holy Spirit, we too must be willing to follow the ‘Shekinah Glory’ of the Holy Spirit, just as the Israelites followed the Cloud in the wilderness. This is partly what Yahushua referred to when He said:

“My sheep … follow Me” (John 10:27; Luke 4:1; Romans 8:14).

We later see in the Book of Revelation that those who overcome all things are those who follow the Lamb wherever He goes–and that means following Him even into territory unfamiliar to them! (Rev 14:4).

In past generations, there have been many who have resisted the moving of the Holy Spirit. In the middle ages, for example, there was a fresh wind of the Spirit to restore the truth of Justification by Faith. This moving of the Holy Spirit resulted in a large community of evangelical Believers, but this move was resisted among certain religious groups. Many had been camped out, and had become quite comfortable in their religion — so they had no desire to move on. When the Shekinah Glory began to move into this ‘new’ Truth, many decided to remain where they were. And so they were left behind, as to that stage of their preparation.

In the early 20th Century, there was a great move of the Holy Spirit to restore the giftings and ministries of the Spirit, including supernatural healings and other manifestations of the Holy Spirit. This move of the Holy Spirit was fraught with counterfeits, which obscured the true, and caused many to turn away. This move of the Holy Spirit was therefore greatly resisted, this time by the evangelical community created in the earlier move.

This ‘new thing’ did not fit with what many had been taught, and did not agree with what they understood; they concluded it must be error. They did not realise that perhaps their experience was too narrow to understand what the Holy Spirit was doing, and how the Holy Spirit was preparing His people, and equipping them.

The Holy Spirit was simply calling the evangelical community to receive the Holy Spirit, and then calling them to return to Scripture, to test the Scriptural validity of this experience, and to test what they saw happening all around them. Some did search the Scriptures, and found the Truth, and moved when the Holy Spirit moved. These became the “Spirit-filled” Believers.

Many evangelicals did NOT move on, however, but remained comfortable where they were. They decided to stay, camped out in their comfort-zone. These too were left behind, ill-equipped and unprepared.

Today there is another great move of the Holy Spirit happening worldwide. This is the great moving of the Holy Spirit that will prepare Yahuweh’s people for their participation in the last of three annual Festivals on Yahuweh’s prophetic calendar, the Feast of Tabernacles.

This Feast of Tabernacles speaks of the appearing or “tabernacling” of Yahushua within His people, and from Scripture appears to occur just prior to (or at commencement of) the ‘Time of Jacob’s Trouble’ (Jeremiah 30:7), which appears imminent at this writing.

We might also describe this current move of the Holy Spirit as the preparing of Yahuweh’s people to move from the last encampment in the wilderness, to the entering in of the Promised Land.

Like the earlier moves of the Holy Spirit, this move today is being resisted by many, this time by both groups — by the evangelicals and the “Spirit-filled” Believers.

This present move of the Holy Spirit is the awakening of His people to Righteousness of 1Corinthians 15:34; it is the receiving of the fullness of His Grace, to produce more Grace, of Zec 4:7 and John 1:16; It is also the “learning of Righteousness” of Isaiah 26:10, and it is the acquiring of the right to the Tree of Life, while preparing to enter, of Rev 22:14.

Those who are Born-Again have ‘Messiah-in-them’ as their hope (Colossians 1:27). The Cloud of the Holy Spirit is again moving His Born-Again people into territory unfamiliar to them, whereby they begin to allow the fullness of Messiah-in-them — by allowing Him-in-us to keep His Father’s Commandments and Precepts in our bodies today, just as He did 2,000 years ago when He was in His own body.

Messiah-in-us is prompting us to walk in full obedience to His Father’s Commandments. Yahushua-in-us is calling all of His Born-Again people to stop preventing Him from walking in obedience to His Father in all things!

Small groups of Believers are springing up everywhere, as they begin to sense the need to walk, by His Grace, in obedience to the Commandments Yahushua gave to Moses. They are beginning to realise who Yahushua really is — they are beginning to understand what Yahushua meant when He said, “If you love me, keep MY Commandments” (John 14:15).

They are learning to keep His Sabbaths, Commandments and Precepts, just as Yahushua did 2,000 years ago, and in doing so are preparing themselves for the final sealing of Yahuweh’s Set-apart people. They are experiencing the fulfillment of not being under the condemnation of the Law of Yahuweh, as the apostle Paul explained, because they are being led by the Holy Spirit to walk in obedience to the Law of Yahuweh (Galatians 5:18; Romans 7:22).

They are going to the Scriptures, and are receiving fresh understanding of the New and Everlasting Covenant, as the Holy Spirit leads and guides His people into all Truth. They are also being warned to test everything against the Scriptures, because of the flood of deception, error, and wickedness.

There are multitudes of Believers, however, who are NOT going back to Scripture, to test the validity of what they are seeing and hearing. Indeed, some are merely relying on their leaders to lead them and guide them into all Truth, a task strictly reserved for the Holy Spirit. The result is that these will NOT follow the Lamb wherever He goes.

Others are trying to understand — trying to ‘figure it out’ before they obey; Scripture tells us, however, that understanding comes after obedience. These Believers are burdened by fear of the unknown, and are unwilling to leap into the safety-net of simple obedience to Scripture. These too will not follow the Cloud of the Shekinah Glory.

Thus there are many that will not be in agreement with what they see or hear in this great move of the Holy Spirit. What they are hearing is different from what they have heard from the pulpits, different from what they already understand, and different from their custom and tradition — so they conclude it must be error and deception.

But that is only human nature, and is how the ‘natural’ man operates. Only by seeking Yahuweh — by seeking His Word in the Scriptures — can we determine Truth from error, and discern the spiritual things from the natural. It is the natural man who does not discern, or receive spiritual things (1Corinthians 2:14). Thus we are all called back to the Scriptures, as the Bereans who were more noble, to see whether these things are so (Acts 17:10-11).

As in past moves of the Holy Spirit, there will be many today who will refuse to move on. Instead they want to remain where they are spiritually, camped out in the wilderness. They are comfortable in the wilderness — why go to all this effort to move?

To follow the Cloud of the Holy Spirit, one must move on, and must leave one’s comfort zone. To move on means loss of friends. It means encountering unfamiliar doctrinal truths, and much digging and searching of Scripture to determine what is true, and what is error. To move on, one must die to all that he currently understands, all that he knows, and all that he is. Only then may Yahushua bring Resurrection-life to us in those areas which we have allowed to die.

And so it will be, that many Born-Again Believers will remain. They do not realise they will be left in the wilderness, ill-equipped and unprepared, and continuing to work iniquity (Strong’s number 458) as Law-breakers (Matt 7:23). And even though they are Born-Again, they will be ‘led forth with the workers of iniquity,’ to be tested by the furnace of ‘seven times’ hotter, the furnace of Jacob’s Trouble.

They will then begin to realise that Jacob does not represent those whom their favorite prophecy teachers claimed. Instead, they will begin to understand from Scripture who Jacob really is, and what Yahuweh’s purpose for Jacob’s trouble is. But for them, it will be too late.

They did not realise this last move of the Holy Spirit was the ONE move that would have prepared them, made them ready to enter into the Promised Land, by making them obedient, had they been willing! However, they were neither willing nor obedient, so they must go into the time of testing (Isaiah 1:19-20; Daniel 11:35; 1Peter 1:7).

But they were Born-Again! Why did they not escape? And being Born-Again, why were they not counted worthy to escape?

Notice that the pre-requisite Yahushua gives for being accounted ‘worthy’ to escape (Luke 21:34-36) is not merely that of being Born-Again, but that one must ‘watch’ — which in the Hebrew sense of the word includes being obedient to the Commandments.

These Little Children, however, had been taught that all those who are Born-Again were ready. In fact they were not ready, but had received the Grace of Yahuweh in vain (the seed was planted, but yielded no fruit).

These Believers had been frightened away from producing the precious fruit desired by the Husbandman. They had instead become fearful by the teaching they had received from their Leaders, who called the bad fruit of wickedness ‘good,’ and the good fruit of works of Righteousness ‘hemlock’ — which speaks of bitterness, poison, and a curse (Amos 6:12).

Alas, for unlike those Believers in Berea, they did not search the Scriptures for themselves, to see whether these things were so.

“But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.” (Hebrews 6:9)

Let this be a wake-up call to all Believers! Let us abandon the half-hearted, passive Grace of the Theologians, in order to embrace the full and active Grace of the Scriptures!

Let us therefore follow the Cloud by day, and the Fire by night — the Shekinah Glory of Yahuweh. Let us not miss out on this move of the Holy Spirit!

Let us search the Scriptures that define Yahushua’s Way of Life in us! Let us then ‘watch,’ and become willing and obedient to His Life in us!

Let us follow the Lamb, wherever He goes!

Hi, I loved reading this, but I am confused? What is this new place the cloud is leading to? Or what is the new movement? Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Thank you Raisa, for the visit, and the questions. This is a complicated subject, but I will try to give a simple answer.

      Q. You asked, “What is this new place the cloud is leading to?” A. The ‘cloud’ (God’s Holy Spirit) is not currently leading His people to a ‘place,’ but is leading His people to prepare themselves by being obedient to the scriptures.

      Q. You asked, “what is the new movement?” A. This is not a ‘movement’ as such, but more an ‘awareness’ that many Believers are beginning to have, that they should repent of their sin, and begin to walk in obedience. Notice below, some of the highlighted phrases from the article. These should give you some of the specifics:

…We might also describe this current move of the Holy Spirit as the preparing of Yahuweh’s people…the awakening of His people to Righteousness…

…they begin to allow the fullness of Messiah-in-them — by allowing Him-in-us to keep His Father’s Commandments and Precepts in our bodies today, just as He did 2,000 years ago when He was in His own body…

…Messiah-in-us is prompting us to walk in full obedience to His Father’s Commandments…as they begin to sense the need to walk, by His Grace, in obedience to the Commandments Yahushua gave to Moses…beginning to understand what Yahushua meant when He said, “If you love me, keep MY Commandments” (John 14:15)…

…They are learning to keep His Sabbaths, Commandments and Precepts, just as Yahushua did 2,000 years ago…

…they are being led by the Holy Spirit to walk in obedience to the Law of Yahuweh (Galatians 5:18; Romans 7:22)…

This is all about our own individual, personal relationship with Yahuweh, and is not about groups of people, nor about group interactions of any sort, with the exception that all must learn to consider each other more highly than ourselves, and to love one another.

I hope this is a little clearer. You might want to read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, to get a better picture of what this is all about. Thanks again for your questions!
